Traffic and Parking ConsiderationIf you are planning an event that will bring attendees to the campus, or if your event will bring services such as the media, caterers, equipment delivery people, or others to the University, it will be necessary to make a call to Transportation and Parking Services. According to the Transportation and Parking Services Special Events Coordinator, the size of your event, the number of attendees anticipated, the site of the event, and the time and day of the week are all factors that may have an impact on the ease with which visitors can maneuver and park their vehicles with ease. With all your planning efforts, if your guests have difficulty in getting there, they cannot fully enjoy the event. With smaller events (less than 50 vehicles to the campus), the excessive traffic is often absorbed. However, with more than 50 vehicles, or if multiple events are scheduled in close proximity, difficulties may arise. Consideration must be given to guests arriving by charter bus...the drop off, bus parking, and pick-up points must all be established. Don't let this crucial aspect of your event planning go unattended. With a bit of foresight and planning, your event can and will be a success. The following is a quick check-list of considerations that may require contacting Transportation and Parking Services' Special Events Coordinator (614/292-9944):
If any of these are issues that may affect your event, give Transportation and Parking Services a call at 614/292-9944. Best wishes for a successful event! |
